Brandywine Ballet had a subscription problem: the audience was aging and the young ones were not coming twice. We sold the season as time off from the phone, twelve weeks of it. Print led across the arts pages and the Sunday supplements, with 48-sheets near the theater and a social run that posted nothing for the length of each performance. Season subscriptions were up 22 percent, most of them under forty.
